20/05/2020 - We value the work our team do

Steve our support worker has worked with this young man for several months now, the transformation In the client is amazing. Steve has shown a strong dedication and commitment towards building trust with his client.

They have a fantastic professional relationship. We have listened to Steve when more support was requested, social services worked with us and it just shows that community support work is a very rewarding career!

07/05/2020 - COVID-19 update

We wish to thank you all for your continued support and the lovely compliments we have received over the last few weeks. We do share these with the staff and they very much appreciate them.

COVID -19

You may have seen the non-stop media attention the Care sector is currently getting. This is great news for the sector; however, it is a shame it has taken such a serious pandemic to highlight the amazing work we all do. The negative side to the news updates is surrounding PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) supplies.

To date, we have always managed to secure enough PPE stock to ensure we keep you and our staff safe. We have regular deliveries of PPE, which includes face masks, face shields and eye goggles, should they be needed.

The staff are fully informed of the changing guidelines around the use of PPE. As an organisation we have asked that staff wear face masks at all times, wash their hands upon entering your property and then immediately put on gloves and aprons. The procedure for handwashing is standard training which is provided to all employees, and this practice should not be any different to what they would have done prior to COVID-19. PPE is to be disposed of in the client’s external bin when leaving the property – all staff have been supplied with hand gel to use after disposal.

We ask that, should you observe any staff member entering your home to not be following this procedure, or if you have any questions / concerns regarding PPE or any other matter, that you make myself or Kerry Fraser (Community Support Manager) aware via email or telephone.

We are regularly sharing resources that are community-based on our Facebook page, @supportsolutionsyork, and we have also supplied links to York City Council’s COVID- 19 resource pages. Our newsletters also contain local group information, and many are now running online classes, food outlet updates and numerous other groups / advice lines that you may find useful.

Our staffing levels have, so far, been maintained throughout the pandemic. We have had to work with staff to accommodate childcare needs and their own ‘keeping safe’ requirements, but this has not impacted on the delivery of what we do. New staff applications have never been so high, and they are increasing weekly. Therefore, we do have capacity to assist you, should you require food shopping, medication collections or anything else that you cannot get out for at this time.
